Tea has its roots in China, where it has been consumed for over 2,000 years. In China, tea is more than just a beverage—it's a significant aspect of the culture, serving both as a spiritual experience and a form of self-cultivation.
-
The Chinese tea ceremony is a ritualized way to savor tea. The contemporary practice draws its influence from the Ming Dynasty scholars and the Gongfu Tea Ceremony in the Chaoshan. Engaging in a tea ceremony is an exercise in mindfulness that deepens your appreciation of the tea.
-
Gong Mengyan, a New York-based tea artist, has been immersed in the study of Chinese tea since 2015. She is a student of Li Shuyun, one of China's most innovative tea masters. Mengyan has been hosting tea ceremonies in NYC since 2022, and founded Teasthetic in 2023 to spread Chinese tea culture.
